Refund Policy
How Premium billing works, how to cancel, and the circumstances in which we refund a payment. This policy forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. How billing works
Premium is a recurring subscription, billed either monthly or yearly depending on the plan you choose at checkout. Each period renews automatically and your payment method is charged until you cancel.
There is no separate paid trial. The free tier is the trial: every new account starts with a set amount of energy and receives more each day, so you can evaluate the service fully before paying anything.
2. Cancelling
Cancelling is not the same as a refund — by default we do not refund the remainder of a period that is already underway. The exceptions are set out below.
3. When we refund
We will refund you in the following cases:
- Right of withdrawal (EU / UK). If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may cancel within 14 days of your first subscription payment for a full refund. Because the service is delivered digitally and immediately, this right is reduced proportionally once you begin using Premium, and we will deduct the value of the practice you have already used.
- Accidental or duplicate charges. If you were billed twice for the same period, or charged after cancelling, we refund the incorrect charge in full.
- Service failure. If Premium was substantially unavailable or unusable for a significant part of a billing period because of a fault on our side, we refund that period in whole or in part.
- Unauthorised payment. If someone used your payment method without your permission, contact us and we will investigate and refund a confirmed unauthorised charge.
- Material adverse change. If we materially reduce what Premium provides during a period you have already paid for, you may cancel and receive a pro-rated refund of the unused portion.
Outside these cases, refunds are at our discretion. We would rather resolve a genuine problem than keep money from an unhappy user, so please write to us before disputing a charge.
4. What is not refundable
- Energy, experience points, streaks and other in-app items. They have no monetary value and are not sold separately.
- Periods you have already used in full, where none of the circumstances in section 3 applies.
- Promotional or complimentary Premium granted through a code, which involves no payment.
- Amounts corresponding to accounts terminated for a breach of the Terms of Service.
5. How to request a refund
Email chatlingo.co@gmail.com from the address on your account, telling us which charge you are asking about and why. We aim to respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe and typically appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
6. Chargebacks
If you open a chargeback with your bank, we may suspend Premium access on the account while the dispute is investigated. Contacting us first is almost always faster and we will usually resolve it without involving your bank.
